❤️ Why These black bean brownies Are So Good
When you’re gluten intolerant the one thing you seem to have at your disposal is brownies! Every shop seems to have a version of well packaged gluten free brownie. That shouldn’t be a bad thing right? Wrong! These brownies on offer are the sweetest most sickly dessert they could give you! In fact they must think the only way to make it gluten free is to pack it with so much sugar you forget about the fact its gluten free cause your teeth are rotting out of your mouth! Enter these black bean brownies for the win. Granted the idea of a brownie made with black beans may be off putting but instead of thinking about the savoury element, think of the texture of a smooshed black bean. That’s when this all starts making a bit more sense. The flavour of the black bean is completely hidden once you add the cacao, date paste, and vanilla. Instead you are left with a flourless, indulgent brownie that I will bet you will be making every week on repeat.
🍌 Ingredients & Notes

For these Black Bean Brownies, you’ll need:
A can of black beans rinsed, which will give these brownies that rich brownie texture.
Eggs
Oil
Cacao powder to provide that rich chocolate flavour while giving you a nutrient packed hit.
Date paste to sweeten naturally
Salt, baking powder, vanilla and dark chocolate chips to bring it all together.
🧑🍳 Instructions (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 176 Celsius.
Step 2: Make your date paste by adding 1 cup of pitted dates to a bowl and covering with boiling water. Let it sit between 10/15 minutes. Once softened, add dates only to a blender along with 1/4 cup of the liquid. Blend until it forms a smooth paste. (you may need more or less water depending on your dates so adapt accordingly ). Remove date paste from your blender and set aside. This recipes yields 2/3 cup, the exact amount you’ll need for the recipe.
Step 3: In a blender add the rinsed can of black beans, eggs, oil, cacao, date paste, salt and baking powder.
Step 4: Blend until all the ingredients are fully pulverised. You may need to scrape down the sides and blend again to achieve the smooth texture you’re looking for.
Step 5: Once blended remove, blade and add the chocolate chips and fold them into the mixture. This will cut down on dirty dishes!
Step 6: Line your baking tray with parchment paper and pour in mixture.
Step 7: Bake for between 30-40 mins ( I normally take mine out at 35 minutes but it might depend on your oven).
Step 8: Allow brownies to cool for 20 minutes before cutting into them.
Step 9: Enjoy!
